Rewind a Card
Preview an earlier saved Card state and understand what changes before applying it.
Rewind puts a Card’s work, List and status back to a saved point. It keeps the same Card and adds a new step to its history.
Choose and preview
Open Rewind… from the Card menu. History available since shows the earliest covered date. Choose a saved point, a named milestone, or a time. A time selects the last saved point at or before it; the preview shows the exact date, time and timezone.
Review the changes and destination List before choosing Rewind Card. If the earlier List is gone, choose an active List on the same Board. The preview shows the resulting status, including any rule set by that List.
If complete content is unavailable, that point cannot be applied. If someone changes the work after your preview, refresh it before continuing.
What changes—and what stays
- The preview shows the earlier Card details, dates, checklist, Stage content and eligible work relationships. Later Stage items move out of the current view and remain recoverable.
- Chat, replies, Activity, sent mail and calls stay. Rewind does not resend anything or change who has access. Existing share links show the rewound Card after refresh.
- Documents have their own history. An exclusive document can return to its saved content. A document linked elsewhere stays current; Recover a separate copy creates an independent document when you have permission.
- A checklist item already turned into a Card stays linked to that Card. Rewind does not create a second checkbox for the same work or merge the child back into its source.
Change your mind
After Rewind, choose Use the version from just before this Rewind. You will preview that saved state and confirm again. Later edits are checked before anything changes.
Board owners and editors can apply Rewind within their current permissions. Viewers and Card-only guests cannot. Named milestones preserve selected points, but permanent deletion still removes work from recovery.
Undo and Removed Items provide separate ways to reverse a supported action or bring back removed work.
