Discuss the work and ask Ava for help

Put a disputed charge, its evidence, and your notes together; ask Ava to compare them and help draft a response while you decide what to send.

Current Superboard Card Chat showing sequential messages and an explicit @Ava request.

A hotel bill includes room service you never ordered. Put the bill line, receipt, booking, and your notes in the relevant Card. Ask Ava to compare what you provide, show where it does not match, and help draft questions and a response. You decide what to send and whether to call. Ava does not contact the hotel or issue a refund.

The same pattern works beyond disputes. Put a thought, question, reference, debate, or decision in the relevant Card's Chat so it stays beside the Stage, files, status, and history instead of disappearing into a separate conversation.

Ask Ava in that same Chat when you want help understanding the material, drafting something, comparing options, or deciding what to do next. Ava's reply stays with the Card, so the reasoning does not vanish when the conversation ends.

The short version

  1. Open the Card for the work.
  2. Add your question, context, link, or file to Chat.
  3. Include @Ava when you want Ava to help.
  4. Keep the consequential decision with you, and move durable work to the Stage when useful.

Every Card Room has a sequential Chat. It is the shared record for discussion, decisions, Ava's replies, files, and work that moves between Chat and Stage.

Messages show who wrote them. You.one keeps that attribution in the Card record.

Send a message

  1. Open a Card.
  2. Choose Chat.
  3. Write in the Message field.
  4. Choose Send, or press Cmd/Ctrl+Enter.

Pressing Enter adds a new line. Drafts survive Card navigation and reload on the same device.

Chat shows save and sync progress. Do not resend a message just because cloud acknowledgement takes time; follow the recovery control or retry state You.one shows.

Current Card Chat showing an explicit request to Ava, Ava’s attributed reply, message actions, and the persistent composer.
An explicit @Ava request remains in the same sequential Card record as the person's other messages.

Format a message

Select text to open the formatting controls. Cmd/Ctrl+B applies bold source and Cmd/Ctrl+I applies italic source.

Chat safely renders common Markdown, including paragraphs, emphasis, lists, links, quotes, code, task lists, headings, and contained tables. Raw HTML does not execute, and remote Markdown images do not fetch.

Attach a file

Choose +, paste a file, or drop files into Chat. The composer stages the files before you send.

Chat uses the same verified attachment rules as Stage: supported images, documents, text and code, fonts, audio, and video. One message accepts up to 10 files and 500 MB total, subject to the per-type limits described in Work in a Card's Stage.

If an upload fails, the message and its local draft remain protected on the device. Follow the retry or discard control Chat shows. If You.one says the file is no longer available, attach the original file again.

Edit, react, and curate

Sent messages support:

  • author-only inline editing for human messages;
  • attributed Unicode emoji reactions;
  • Highlights, which filters Chat to messages people kept.

Use the header-level Highlights filter to switch between all messages and curated messages. Highlights is a filter over the same shared Chat, not a second conversation.

Ask Ava in the Card

Today, ask Ava in a Card by writing @Ava followed by the request. Older @The Guide mentions still work, but Ava is the customer-facing name.

The request and Ava's reply remain in the Card's Chat. Ava can answer in text, and supported image requests can return an image attachment.

Ava can also make the specific Board and Card changes that You.one offers today. Those changes are recorded, and supported changes can be undone. A request in Chat does not prove an action happened; rely on the visible result You.one shows.

The broader AI co-owner vision is not all available today. Ava does not yet reason over every part of every Board by default, run continuous 24/7 monitoring, or execute arbitrary external workflows from Card Chat. If an action could send, buy, book, publish, or make another consequential commitment, do not assume it happened unless You.one shows the action and its result.

Shared Chat versus Ava's private working line

Available today: Card Chat is shared, sequential, attributed, and attached to the Card. Explicit @Ava requests happen in that shared record.

Direction: The same Ava can have a personal working line beside the Board and Card. That private conversation is not generally available today. Do not treat Card Chat as private, and do not assume a private Ava conversation exists unless You.one visibly provides it to your account.

There is one Ava across You.one, not a separate assistant for each surface. When private work is promoted into shared Chat or Stage in that direction, the shared result remains attributed and recoverable.
